Sometimes music and visual design come together in a way that takes the experience to another level.
When Lorem Ipsum was working on the physical release of their EP Même quand ta main quittera la mienne, Maxime Foulon, who designed the cover art, asked me if I wanted to collaborate on the project.
The idea: a transparent vinyl with a zoetrope animation on the B-side.

Based on Maxime’s sketches, I designed a moving illustration, which makes the record come to life not only auditorily, but also visually when played on a turntable. The release was released in a limited edition of 150 yellow and 150 pink copies, some of which are also available at The Fisher King Store.

My connection with Lorem Ipsum and Maxime goes much further than this collaboration, however.
Fifteen years ago, I met Maxime when he came in for his first tattoo. He immediately made an impression as a driven and passionate artist. Over the years, he has done several internships with me to learn how to tattoo. At the same time, he introduced me to Lorem Ipsum, a project in which he combines his raw, emotionally charged vocals and piano with acoustic instruments. Their unique mix of baroque screamo and post-rock immediately struck a chord with me.

This project is a great example of how creativity and friendship can strengthen each other. I look forward to seeing what new cross-pollinations the future will bring.
