Jean "Crow"

Jean “Crow”, globetrotter, tattoo-artist, allround creative mixed artist, musician, and co-organiser of “de museum-sessies” .

After a career as a shoemaking craftsman and former assistant of visual artist William Sweetlove, Jean made a switch at the age of 57 and started practicing the art of tattooing at Beautiful Freak Tattoo/The Fisher King, under guidance of Vincent Hocquet.

Over the last years he has developed a unique interpretation of different tattoo-styles, combining dotwork, sketchy lines, typography, patterns and figurative elements into a remarkable ensemble.

Jeans mixed arts combine fragments of his drawings, maquettes, miniature landscapes and beach findings into framed little surrealist worlds, all for sale at the Fisherkingstore.

When he is not tattooing or making art, he can be found on the countryside fundling his guitar or bass. In the 90’s Jean played bass with “Het Westhoekig Kamerensemble” accompanying Dirk Vangansbeke (Luna Twist) and in 2009-2010 Jean played bass for “de 4 reserven” who accompanied spokenwordsartist Douvie on tour.

After 10 years of loyal service, Jeantje has retired and is no longer tattooing, but he is still taking commisions for artwork.
